The University of Maryland Mock Trial team had an amazing weekend.  A team captained by Rahul Srinivas, Evan Gottstein and Emani Walks defeated the top teams from Columbia, Brown and Tufts on their way to a second place finish in the Tufts “Mumbo-Jumbo” Mock Trial Invitational, a tournament that featured defending national champion Harvard and numerous others teams that were in last year’s national finals.  A second team, captained by Jennifer Hyman and Rajan Bal, tied for second at the Penn State “Happy Valley” Invitational.  This team, consisting almost entirely of students in their first semester of mock trial, nevertheless split ballots with Georgetown’s nationally ranked A team and defeated American University’s nationally ranked A team.  Jonah Panikar was named an All-Tournament Attorney.  A third team, captained by Jessica Nerz and Elina Levit, crushed Wesleyan in the last round on their way to winning the Temple “Hooter” Mock Trial Invitational as the only team in any tournament this weekend to achieve a perfect 8-0 record (pictured).  Jessica Nerz and Christine Kennedy, competing in their first tournament, were named all-tournament attorneys.
