Brandee Pettus, Esq. is the Associate Director of the Law and Society minor in MLaw Programs.  In her role as the Assistant Director, she helps to maintain the relationship between the University of Maryland College Park and the University of Maryland Carey School of Law.  Additionally, she handles the admissions and advising of students in the Law and Society minor.  Ms. Pettus plays an active role in program curriculum design and she is responsible for teaching within the program.

Ms. Pettus received her Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law and she received her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland at College Park.  She is currently licensed to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Prior to joining the University of Maryland, Ms. Pettus was the Director of Legal Services at the DC Law Students in Court Program.  In this role, she taught third year law students trial litigation skills in the areas of housing, consumer, and general civil practice. Preceding her time at DC Law Students in Court, she was in private practice as a solo practitioner in Maryland and the District of Columbia, handling primarily civil cases related to real estate, housing, criminal and domestic matters.  She is an approved mediator for the courts and the federal government and she sits on the Board of Directors for various non-profit organizations throughout the area. She currently resides in Maryland with her husband, Bernard, and children and enjoys traveling.
