On Thursday, October 12, 2023, MLaw Programs will be hosting Ms. Zenita Wickham Hurley '97 (B.A. GVPT) who serves as the chief of the newly-created Office of Equity, Policy, and Engagement in the Maryland's Office of the Attorney General (OAG) which is charged with identifying and executing innovative strategies to advance OAG goals and priorities using a racial and social equity framework; works closely with internal and external OAG stakeholders across a broad range of issues to promote policies and other initiatives that combat systemic inequities and protect the rights, responsibilities, and privileges of all Marylanders. Prior to this role, Ms. Hurley served as chief counsel for Civil Rights in the Office of the Attorney General since 2017 and previously worked in the office as head of Legislative Affairs. Prior to joining the attorney general’s office, Hurley served as special secretary of the Governor’s Office of Minority Affairs. From 2007 to 2012, she served as the director of the Office of Minority Business Enterprise at the Maryland Department of Transportation. Ms. Hurley received her JD from NYU Law School in 2000.
